Iron Mines Leading in the Environmental Investments
Statistical Centre of Iran: “Most of the environmental investments have been done in iron ore extraction mines.”
According to the Mining Investment Insurance Corporation’s public relations, the Statistical Center of Iran presented a report from mines environmental information
during 2017 which shows that from 5353 active mines, 475149000000 IRR has been invested in the mines’ environments.

 

Iron ore extraction mines have done the most investment in the environment section with 327301000000 IRR, while the copper mines stand in the 2nd place with 47509000000 IRR, and lead and zinc mines are the 3rd with 34867000000 IRR. 

 

According to this report 789 mines (14.7%) have had investments in the environmental section. The number of 190 lime ore mines investing in the environmental section is now higher than other mines, while there have been 170 sand mines which stand in the second place, and 136 rubble mines that stand in the 3rd place.
 
27% of the Mines Have Sewage
1450 mines of the country (27.1%) have sewage and highest number of mines according to this is for the sand mines with 576 mines, landscape rocks mines with 361 mines and lime ore mines with 276 mines. 
These statistics show that the provinces having more mines with sewages are Isfahan with 168 mines, Fars with 157 mines and Kerman with 140 mines. 
The total amount of sewage produced in the country’s mines is 37052 m3.

850 Mines Have Sewage Treatment Systems
According to the report mentioned above, from the 1450 mines, 850 have sewage treatment system. Among these 721 mines use physical purification, 34 mines use chemical purification and 94 mines use biological purification. 
The sewage from 739 mines are conveyed into non-agricultural lands, 282 mines into wells, 167 mines into rivers, 120 mines into farm lands, 22 mines into sewage network, 11 mines into lakes, 162 mines into different other places. 
 
About 70% of the Mines Have Tailings
According to this report, 3742 mines (69.9%) have tailings, from which 301 mines use tails dams, 3230 use tailing storages and 211 mines use other methods to store or convey their tailings.
