“Iran now ranks 1st among other Middle East countries for mining discoveries.” Said IMIDRO’s chairman.
According to the Mining Investment Insurance Corporation’s public relations, Khodadad Gharibpur said: “according to the discovery projects which were scheduled during the 11th government, the total amount of discovery in 2018 reached 270000 Km2. In this year we are executing the discovery projects of 300000 km2. Among the 1 million km2 of discovery panels, 65% is now given to IMIDRO.”
A Triple Increase in the Mining Investment Insurance Corporation’s Capital
“The Corporation’s capital will reach 500 Billion Tomans which is 3 times more than what it is now, with the support from the private section.” Said IMIDRO’s chairman, pointing out the programs and schedules which has so far helped the Corporation’s capital to grow up to 350 billion Tomans this year (a triple increase). “The Corporation supports the miners in the private section and is estimated to have an effective role in mining producers.”
Creating 3000 Jobs in Small Mines
“We have 150 mines on the list to start their operations this year, which are estimated to employ 3000 people.” Continued the chairman, pointing out that the reviving and renovating small mines is now a priority in the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, “according to this projects, the government has programmed and scheduled the reviving, development and reactivation of 500 mines in a 5 year program, which will lead to the employment of 25000 people. Non-metal mines are also included in this program along with metal mines. We already have more than 5500 active mines in the country from which is extracted the average of 400 million tons of minerals per year. 60 to 65% of these minerals are construction materials.”
The Start of 3.9 Billion Dollar Worth of Projects
Mr. Gharibpur pointed out the start of 3.9 billion dollar worth of projects this year and said: “it is estimated to create 10000 direct employments, which will also create many indirect employment opportunities as well. IMIDRO started 2.1 billion dollar worth of projects last year.”
