According to the Mining Investment Insurance Corporation’s public relations, Khodadad Gharibpur said, in a meeting on the solutions regarding the process challenges of developing the gemstone industry, “the cooperation of the beneficiaries and authorities with IMIDRO in order to overcome these challenges is highly appreciated. We are very pleased that our colleagues and related organizations have taken this seriously, and we can reduce the challenges with holding these meetings for sure.”
Gemstone Road Map for Two Specific Periods
“In the developed strategies so far, the necessities are information on forming the market place, exportation, educational centers, risks, mining tools, educational standards, connections, beneficiaries, facilities, etc., in order to finalize the roadmap.” Said IMIDRO’s chairman, “this road map will be developed for two specific periods, from 2020 to 2026, and 2026 to 2030. In the first period we are going to focus on the industry’s mega structures’ reformation, development of the foundations and optimization of business atmosphere, developing the sources of the raw stones, and developing Human Resource Management. On the second period, the road map would focus on the development of investment, production and domestic, regional and global markets. There is also the formation of the Gemstone supreme council and the establishment of Iran’s Gemstone House. Fortunately this industry does not have huge costs, and can provide good employment, and does not need a specific time and place for that.

“As a cooperation among IMIDRO, Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and Iran’s Mine house, everything has been planned.” Mr. Gharibpur said about the ‘Analysis of Challenges and Approaches towards the Development of the Art of Gemstone Industry Conference,’ “there would be presented reports, strategies, updated operational programs of this industry and scientific and practical approaches by four professional committees. According to the plan, the chairman of CIBJO – The World Jewelry Confederation, will also attend this conference through webinar. He is supposed to answer 10 fundamental questions regarding the development of the gemstone industry and jewelry. These answers would be later presented as approaches towards different challenges.”
High Added Value for the Combination of Art and Stone
Mansur Ghorbani, responsible for programming the research projects on the strategy development and operation schedules regarding the precious and semi-precious stones in Iran, said in the meeting: “regarding Iran’s thousands of years of history in making gemstones, there would be high added value if it combines art.”
Field Studying for a Comprehensive Plan
Salman Farokh Zad, the counselor for the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, and also responsible for developing the comprehensive plan for the precious and semi-precious stones, said in the meeting: “with the help of almost everyone in the industry, there has been a one a half year of field study for this plan, and there have been held several meetings with the related and subsidiary unions. Considering the mine chain, every section has to try its best to Increase the production.”
