More than 55% of the new government’s investments during the last six years have been done during 2018 and 2019. While the whole investment by the 11th and 12th government has reached 8.7 Billion Dollars, 4.8 Billion Dollars of it was invested during 2018 and 2019 through IMIDRO’s new supervision model.
According to the Mining Investment Insurance Corporation’s
public relations, quoting from IMIDRO, the most important reason behind the
acceleration in developing the projects despite all the sanctions, is the
development and execution of the new supervision model which was developed
since the time Mr. Gharibpur has become the chairman of this organization.
During this time IMIDRO has executed the ‘monitoring the production and
expansion’ project in order to have a thorough monitoring and supervision
program. The project which has caused 40 to 50 meetings being held each month.
One of the biggest effects this model has had on
the working processes until now is the acceleration in the projects’ processes.
While the average number of the projects done during the years that IMIDRO has
been active has been less than 10, during 2018 and 2019 the projects sped up in
a way that despite the sanctions, 16 projects in 2018 and 22 projects in 2019
were established and started with the help of the private section.
A good part of these projects were in national
scales, such as SALCO, the expansion of iron ore concentrates and pellets
company in Sangan, sponge iron in different province’s steel branches, the
development projects of copper industry etc.
Along with other big mining companies, IMIDRO has
invested in 27 provinces in the course of the recent government. At the moment,
there are 31 provinces in which IMIDRO has different projects designed or
having them executed. 110 projects have been started during the recent
government such as Iron ore, coal, steel, copper, aluminum, gold, lead, zinc
and also projects regarding the mines’ infrastructures. The project of reviving
the small mines has also been a part of this since the last year.
There have been 22351 directs jobs and 71250
indirect jobs created by IMIDRO and big mining companies during the last 6
years in different provinces such as Isfahan, Ilam, Alborz, East Azarbaijan, West
Azarbaijan, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, North Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi,
South Khorasan, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars,
Qazvin, Qom, Kordestan, Kerman, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Guilan, Mazandaran,
Lorestan, Markazi, Hormozgan, Hamedan, and Yazd.
13 Billion Dollar Worth of Projects with the
Direct Employment of 43000 People
At the moment IMIDRO and other big mining
companies are working on different projects in 31 provinces of the country. The
number of these projects now reaches up to 247, and there have been 13.5
billion dollars invested on them so far. These projects include the extraction
of small mines for the ‘reviving and reactivating small mines project’ as well.
It is predicted that this investment will create 43300 direct jobs and more
than 180000 indirect jobs.
2019, Production from the Projects with the
Investment of 3.2 Billion Dollars
IMIDRO’s huge activities in 2019 caused 3.2
billion dollars of investment to finally reach the production stage in 2019,
with the help of the private section. This is while the country is going
through such strict sanctions.
Programs of 2020, Employment of 4100 People
Among the 2020 programs is the opening of the
project with 2.2 billion dollars of investment which is estimated to create
4100 direct jobs and 15000 indirect jobs. In addition to this, as a development
organization, IMIDRO will help the opening of the 1 billion dollar investment
project in the private section in 2020.
Gemstones and Precious Stones, IMIDRO’s New
Projects
For the first time, IMIDRO is going for the
optimization of the gemstones, precious stones and semi-precious stones
industry by creating a workgroup. The final comprehensive deed is now prepared
through the cooperation of the private section and universities. According to
this deed, there will be created 500000 jobs until 2026 in the gemstone
section. The first precious and semi-precious stones’ market was opened in June
2020 with the presence of Khodadad Gharibpur, the Vice Minister of Industry,
Mine and Trade in Arg-E-Jahan Nema in Isfahan. The next destination for these
precious stones and their market is Khorasan Razavi and Mashhad.
On the other hand, the pathology project and the
project development of the precious stones comprehensive plan have been started
by Iran’s Mineral’s Production and Supplies Co. (an IMIDRO’s subsidiary
company) since spring, which aims for solving the problems of precious stones
industry and their exportation.
An Increase in Investments and Development
Since last year, IMIDRO started a new strategy to
increase the companies’ capitals from the retained earnings, considering the
financial needs of the big companies and in order to develop this section. Some
companies such as Mobarake Steel, National Copper, Gol-Gohar, Chadormalu etc.
will also use this strategy from this year on. This strategy is going to be
used in order to complete some setup projects, aiming for a ‘jump in
production’. The increase in the big mining companies’ capital reached 13700
billion tomans. In 2020, Mobarake Steel and National Copper will each have
10000 billion tomans increase in their capital. This increase would be 5200
billion tomans for Gol-Gohar, 1200 billion tomans for Chadormalu and 1300
billion tomans for Khuzestan.
Domestic Production and Development
IMIDRO announced the domestic production and
development strategy in the start of the year, and received the operational
goals from the subsidiary companies, and has made it its priority to monitor
this strategy. Mine and Mining Industry companies have been able to cut costs
up to 500 million Euros so far as they started going for the domestic
production of machinery tools and parts.
Discovery of 650000 Km2
From the beginning of the 11th
government IMIDRO has started its exploration programs for 650000 km2.
400000 km2 of the discovery happened in the last two years. As a
result, 500 million tons were added to the country’s iron ore supplies and the
bauxite supplies were doubled.
An Increase in Production in the First Four Month
of the Year
In the year of ‘jump in production’, aluminum
still holds the highest position in production among the Mine and Mining
Industry’s big companies. There was a 67% growth in producing the ingot in the
first four months of the year. There were produced 138700 tons of ingot from
March until the end of June 2020, while the production during the same period
of time in 2019 was only 83000 tons. From the last summer until this spring,
IMIDRO setup two aluminum companies of Iran Alumina Co. in Jajarm and SALCO. SALCO
is now the biggest aluminum company in Iran which was setup through investment
and cooperation from the private section.
The steel companies also produced more than 9.4
tons of raw steel (billet, bloom and slab) which shows a 9% growth, comparing
to same time last year. The production of sponge iron also reached more than
10.5 million tons which shows a 12% growth. Cathode copper production was also
91000 tons, with a 1% growth.
